The Manufacturing Head of an organisation—who has been with the company for 15 years—shared with confidence that they are the industry leader and No. 1 in India in their segment.
I suggested conducting stakeholder interviews with people from the industry—not to validate what they already believed, but to discover what others were seeing that they might not be seeing themselves.
He went ahead and spoke to 20 people.
In one of our sessions, he said something that caught my attention:
“I got a shocking truth in one of the meetings, I am going to share it with the Chairman.”
That, for me, is the power of stakeholder engagement.
They don't just give you feedback.
They help you sense what is emerging, discover blind spots, and see your organisation through the eyes of the ecosystem.
Sometimes, the most valuable insight is not what people inside the organisation are saying…
It is what people outside are seeing.
